CEO Sleepout

Homelessness: Rethink. Relate. Respond.

In 2006 a small group of business leaders assembled in Sydney for the first Vinnies CEO Sleepout. They rallied to raise funds while getting a glimpse of what it might be like to have no bed to sleep in. Since then over 5,000 business and community leaders have taken part in what has become an iconic national event to address the hideous issue of homelessness.

Over 105,000 people experiencing homelessness is not okay:

56% of these people are male and 44% are female.

60% of the homeless population is under the age of 35.

Between 2006 and 2011 Australia experienced a 17% increase in people experiencing homelessness.

Domestic and family violence is the number one reason why women and children seek support from Vinnies and other specialist homelessness services: 36% have been affected by domestic and family violence. Women and girls make up about 59% of all clients who access specialist homelessness services.

Each year Vinnies helps over 1.8 million people– mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, grandmothers and grandfathers and without people like you supporting Vinnies and raising vital funds, this assistance would not be possible.

If you share the vision of a more compassionate society, get involved:

We will not end homelessness overnight but join us and be part of the solution.
